More About the URC Consortium
The mission of the URC Consortium is to promote and implement Universal Remote Console (URC) standards and support services, facilitating user interfaces that are simple and intuitive to use, including future interface technologies such as task-orientation and natural language interaction. It was founded in the summer of 2005, immediately following publication of the first Universal Remote Console (URC) Standards (ANSI/INCITS 389-2005 through 393-2005).
The URC Consortium works primarily through existing industry organizations, such as the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA).
URC Consortium membership currently includes individuals from the following organizations:
- University of Wisconsin-Madison
- Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories (MERL)
- Georgia Institute of Technology
- National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
- Marquette University
- DFKI (German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence)
- Visual Communication Technologies (VICOMTech)
